Planetary Gear Reduction Starter Motor

Planetary gear reduction units are similar to the traditional pre-engaged unit where the solenoid sits on top of the motor, but has an epicyclic gearbox for extra torque. The pinion is activated on a lever that pulls in when the solenoid is switched on. The versatility of the planetary gear reduction unit lends itself to multiple designs in the Powerlite range.
